Profile

As the Assistant Vice President for Research – Animal Program Compliance Oversight and the Director of the Animal Care & Use Office (ACUO), Mr. Greer provides leadership and management of the oversight programs for the protection of animals involved in research at the University. In partnership with the Attending Veterinarian and the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee, Mr. Greer leads the ACUO in fostering an environment of engagement, support, and service to the research community.

Prior to coming to the University of Michigan, Mr. Greer served as Associate Director in the Office of Research Protection at Pennsylvania State University. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Pennsylvania State University in 1986 and has extensive experience in animal care and use programs as well as biosafety and radiation research compliance programs.

Mr. Greer is also an active ad-hoc consultant to the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International Council (AAALAC) and is chairman of the board of directors and the president of the IACUC Administrators Association.
