Imperiale Named AVP for Research-Research Policy and Compliance

Michael J. Imperiale, PhD, has been appointed associate vice president for research–research policy and compliance in the University of Michigan Office of Research. His five-year appointment, approved Thursday, June 15 by the Board of Regents, is effective July 1, 2017. 

As associate vice president, Imperiale will lead the development and review of research policy, and serve as the key point of contact for research compliance. Imperiale, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor and professor of microbiology and immunology in the U-M Medical School, will also oversee issues surrounding responsible conduct of research and will serve as the institutional research integrity officer.

In addition, Imperiale will provide operational oversight for the activities under the assistant vice president for research–regulatory and compliance oversight, and assistant vice president for research–animal program compliance oversight.
