New Germ-Free Rates Effective July 1, 2021

June 29, 2021

Blue circle with July 1 calendar iconNew Germ-Free Mouse Facility rates, including animal procurement and germ-free products and services, will go into effect July 1, 2021.

These revised rates have been reviewed and approved by the University's Financial Analysis Office.

Of note, animal procurement rates have now been separated into two categories based on the age of the animal (e.g., greater than 8 weeks old or less than 8 weeks old). This distinction was made to help us more accurately reflect the costs associated with raising mice for a longer period prior to their use in studies.

Rates will continue to be re-evaluated on an annual basis coinciding with the end of the University’s fiscal year (June 30) and are subject to change.

While we will continue to make every effort to prevent or minimize any fluctuation in germ-free rates, we encourage you to follow standard best practices for baseline budgeting, which allow for incremental cost changes of between 2% – 5% per year throughout multi-year grant projects.
