Reminder Regarding Research Re-Activation Safety Guidelines

July 14, 2020

Red safety shield iconCurrently, over 3,000 personnel have been permissioned to return to work in Medical School research facilities. Progress through the first three waves of research re-activation has been successful thanks in large part to our shared commitment to following the re-engagement safety guidelines outlined by the Governor’s Office and the U-M Office of Research (UMOR).

As a reminder, these guidelines include:

  • Complete the U-M health screening each day before entering your facility
  • Wear a mask
  • Maintain safe social distancing, with at least 6 feet between colleagues
  • Minimize shared items and disinfect/clean those items that must be shared
  • Maintain a daily Lab Cleaning Log, and clean at the beginning and end of each shift

Please review the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) COVID-19 webpage for more information.

If you have questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 safety guidelines, speak with your direct supervisor or another member of your local management team. Reports of non-compliance may also be made by emailing ehs-covid-19-reporting@umich.edu, or via the U-M Compliance Hotline at compliancehotline.umich.edu or (866) 990-0111. Suspected cases of animal abuse, misuses, or mistreatment should be submitted via the Animal Concern Hotline.

While these conditions are challenging, our ability to continue to ramp up research at the U-M is contingent on following these guidelines and maintaining a safe environment. Remember that not only your health is at stake – these safety procedures ultimately protect our surrounding community and the health of the families and loved ones of your colleagues as well.
