SERVICE AREA

HOLIDAY HOURS

  Animal Care & Use Office

The Animal Care & Use Office (ACUO) will be closed beginning Friday, December 24 – Friday, December 31, 2021.

Submissions to the IACUC will still be accepted through eRAM during this time period, but the ACUO will be unable to process them until the office re-opens on Monday, January 3, 2022.

Animal Ordering and Deliveries

Final animal deliveries will be received on Thursday, December 16, 2021. There will be no animal deliveries beginning Friday, December 17, 2021 – Friday, December 31, 2021.

The deadline for ordering animals to arrive during the first week of January (Monday, January 3 – Friday, January 7, 2022) is Friday, December 17, 2021. Orders should be submitted in eRAM via an Animal Purchase Request.

Animal Surgery
Operating Rooms (ASOR)

The Animal Surgery Operating Rooms (ASOR) will be closed Friday, December 24 – Friday, December 31, 2021.

Questions about ASOR scheduling or services should be directed to ulam-asor@umich.edu or (734) 764-0224.

In-Vivo Animal Core (IVAC)

Both In-Vivo Animal Core (IVAC) locations at NCRC and ARF will be closed beginning at 12:00 PM (noon) on Thursday, December 23 – Friday, December 31, 2021. The deadline for sample submissions needing results (CBC) or partial results (paraffin histology processing/embedding) BEFORE the holidays is Monday, December 20 at 3:00 PM (ARF) and 4:00 PM (NCRC).

This deadline was chosen to allow IVAC staff sufficient time before the holiday break to process samples to a stable stage. CBCs must be completed within 24 hours of receipt, and paraffin histology samples are stable once they reach the embedding stage.

Samples that do not need processing prior to the holidays (frozen serum, glass slides, paraffin blocks) can be submitted by appointment up until the closing date; no work will be done during the time periods that IVAC is closed.

As a reminder, sample submission is by appointment only. Study teams are strongly encouraged to book their appointments early, particularly if they anticipate a large submission, in order to help IVAC staff plan their workflows accordingly.

IVAC locations will re-open on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 8:00 AM (NCRC) and 9:00 AM (ARF).

ULAM Training Core
The ULAM Training Core will be closed Friday, December 24, 2021 – Friday, December 31, 2021, unless prior arrangements have been made with Kiirsa Pokryfke, Managing Director Training Core.
