Updates to Guidelines on Anesthesia and Analgesia in Swine
The Guidelines on Anesthesia and Analgesia in Swine were updated on Friday, January 26.
For your convenience, we have summarized key changes below:
- Drug types, dosages, and administration routes have been reviewed and adjusted
(where needed) to represent current veterinary practice - The table in Appendix B for emergency drug dosages has been re-designed
to enhance readability - References to relevant literature have been updated throughout the entire document
As a general reminder, our Animal Care & Use Program reviews all documents (i.e., policies, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures) on a regular basis to maintain consistency with all applicable rules and regulations governing animal research. These updates also include an extensive review of new and existing literature to ensure alignment with current trends and standard best practices in veterinary medicine and laboratory animal care.
