Assistant Manager, Husbandry Services
As Assistant Manager of Husbandry Services, Julie is responsible for aiding the Animal Husbandry Management Team with the day-to-day operations of numerous animal care facilities, including assistance with animal housing, shipping, and transport services; facility and equipment maintenance; monitoring of cage/room environmental conditions; and general oversight of the standards of care for all animals housed on campus.
She also serves as a liaison to both the Human Resources and Environment, Health & Safety Department(s) on a variety of initiatives to promote and enhance employee communication, outreach, and safe work practices.
Julie has been a facilitator with Voices of the Staff, the University's cross-campus employee engagement program, since 2012.
Prior to joining the U-M, Ms. Brinkmeier worked with the St. Catherine’s Wildlife Survival Center, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and the International Crane Foundation, where she performed daily animal husbandry duties for avian, mammalian, and reptilian species.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Southern Illinois University and received her Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) certification in 2004.
