Job Title

Professor, Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM)

Additional Titles

Pathologist, In-Vivo Animal Core (IVAC)

Dr. Hoenerhoff is a board-certified veterinary pathologist with a strong background in translational research, including cancer biology and comparative pathology. Dr. Hoenerhoff has extensive research experience through the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, where he studied mouse models of breast cancer and stem cell theory of carcinogenesis.

He was also a member of the National Toxicology Program, where he was involved in interpretation of toxicology and carcinogenicity bioassays and large scale global gene expression analysis of rodent neoplasia and its relevance to human cancer. Dr. Hoenerhoff joined the ULAM faculty in February of 2014, and is a member of the In-Vivo Animal Core (IVAC) Pathology team within ULAM.

Dr. Hoenerhoff's primary research interests include pathology of animal models of human disease, xenograft and genetically engineered mouse models, and toxicologic and diagnostic pathology.
