Dr. Kennedy joined the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM) as a faculty veterinarian in July 2016 and was appointed the Managing Director of the Germ-Free Mouse Facility in Fall 2017. In May 2020, Dr. Kennedy was named Assistant Director for Clinical Services in ULAM and Assistant Attending Veterinarian for the University of Michigan (U-M).
As Assistant Director for Clinical Operations, Dr. Kennedy manages oversight of veterinary clinical operations and quality assurance. As Assistant Attending Veterinarian (AAV), Kennedy represents veterinary clinical operations related to animal welfare and compliance for the Animal Care & Use Program and throughout the institution.
Dr. Kennedy is no stranger to the U-M, having spent two years in Dr. Kate Eaton's laboratory studying Helicobacter pylori before completing her D.V.M. at Michigan State University. After finishing her veterinary degree, she returned to U-M and ULAM to complete her residency from 2010-2013. Prior to joining the ULAM faculty, Dr. Kennedy served as a Clinical Veterinarian at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Kennedy's research interests include studying the effect of the microbiome on reproducibility in mouse research.
