Laboratory Animal Sciences 2018 Virtual Conference

Desktop computer showing LabRoots event registration page and learn more buttonHosted by LabRoots, Inc., this 7th annual virtual conference brings together scientists, veterinary technicians, veterinarians, IACUC administrators, and training and compliance personnel from around the world to learn about recent advances and challenges within laboratory animal science.

This year's theme is Laboratory Animal Research in the 21st Century and includes the following tracks:

  1. Modernization of Animal Studies
  2. Balancing Risk and Opportunities of Outsourcing Animal Research
  3. Refinement

The conference features over 20 world-renowned laboratory animal science experts, including four speakers from the University of Michigan:

  • Marian Esvelt, DVM, BS, will host a session entitled Compassion Fatigue: Education and Engagement in Animal Research, sponsored by the Laboratory Animal Welfare Training Exchange (LAWTE)
  • Jennifer Jones, BS, RLAT, will host a session entitled Engaging Through Enrichment: How the Animal Enrichment Committee Works to Combat Compassion Fatigue
  • Jennifer Lofgren, DVM, MS, DACLAM, will host a session entitled Evaluation of Analgesia Efficacy in Postoperative Mice Using Novel Cage-Side Measures
  • Sarah Thurston, BS, LAT, will host a session entitled Social Housing of Laboratory Rabbits

As part of the two-day virtual conference, participants will be able to:

  • Search and attend session(s) of their choice
  • Ask questions of the speakers via live video
  • Chat live with peers
  • Receive Continuing Education Credits
  • Browse a virtual exhibit floor for solution providers
  • Peruse the poster hall
