Revised Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM) husbandry per-diem rates will go into effect on January 1, 2020.

We recognize that even the smallest rate fluctuations carry important implications for your grant budgets, project planning and, ultimately, research. That is why we have evaluated these rates on an individual, case-by-case basis, consistent with the National Institutes of Health (NIH)’s Cost Analysis and Rate Setting Manual for Animal Research Facilities.

Rates will be re-evaluated on an annual basis coinciding with the end of each calendar year.

While we will continue using various fiscal management controls to improve our operating efficiencies and prevent or minimize any fluctuating or increased rates, you are strongly encouraged to follow standard best practices for baseline budgeting, which allow for incremental cost changes throughout multi-year grant projects.
