Benjamin E. Curtis, DVM, DACVP

Dr. Curtis joined the ULAM Pathology Core as a veterinary pathologist in September of 2023. A Michigan native, he completed his undergraduate and DVM degrees at Grand Valley State and Michigan State University. He then completed a combined PhD and residency program in Anatomic Veterinary Pathology at Colorado State University. He is a Diplomat in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and is currently preparing for the defense of his PhD from the department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology. At the University of Michigan Dr. Curtis enjoys his clinical duties as a staff pathologist in the ULAM Pathology Core as well as his teaching responsibilities with the ULAM residents.

Research Interests

Dr. Curtis’s research interests include immunology and pathology related to viral diseases, novel vaccine strategies, and diagnostic development. His past works have focused particularly on coronaviruses such as Feline Infectious Peritonitis virus and SARS-CoV2. 
Dr. Curtis is also very passionate about science education and believes that learning how to effectively communicate science topics to public / lay audiences is a topic and a skill which will only become increasingly more important.
