The University of Michigan Transgenic Animal Model Core is offering a CRISPR/Cas9 and Mouse ES Cell Training Class beginning Monday, December 4, through Friday, December 15.

In this two-week hands-on session, trainees will design, build, and validate CRISPR/Cas9 reagents in mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells.

Trainees will learn how to work with mouse embryonic stem cells in culture, to clone CRISPR/Cas9 reagents in plasmids, and to purify and analyze DNA from cultured cells for genome editing.

In addition, trainees will be introduced to the power of genetically engineered mice to model human disease and learn how to access resources from the International Knockout Mouse Consortium project to knockout every protein coding gene in the mouse. After attending, trainees will be able to design experiments to create genetic modifications and produce them in mouse ES cells and in mice with CRISPR/Cas9 reagents.

Places are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a $2,499 fee to defray costs.
