ULAM Welcomes Two New Assistant Husbandry Managers

The Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM) is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to the ULAM Husbandry Management Team.

Lindsey Allen, BS, RLATG, and Renee McUmber, BS, RLATG, who have both served as ULAM Husbandry Supervisors, will be transitioning to their new roles as Assistant Managers on the ULAM Husbandry Management Team over the next few months.

Lindsey (pictured top right) first joined ULAM in 2005 and also worked with the ULAM Breeding Colony for 10 years, where she provided specialized breeding schemes and colony management for multiple U-M research laboratories.

Renee (pictured bottom right) joined ULAM in 2008 and has served in various roles throughout her career, including Animal Technician, Breeding Colony Manager, and Animal Care Supervisor.

Both Lindsey and Renee have been certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science as Laboratory Animal Technologists (LATG).

As Assistant Managers of Husbandry Services, Lindsey and Renee will be responsible for aiding the ULAM Husbandry Management Team with the day-to-day operations of numerous animal care facilities, including assistance with:

• Animal housing, shipping, and transport;
• Facility and equipment maintenance;
• Monitoring of cage/room environmental conditions; and
• General oversight of the standards of care for all animals housed on campus.
