Profile

Dr. Benedict received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Findlay and completed her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

She was first introduced to laboratory animal medicine while working at Charles River Laboratories (Mattawan, MI) as a research technician in general toxicology prior to attending veterinary school.

During veterinary school, she participated in research projects investigating the effects of water disinfection byproducts on the reproductive organs of female mice. In addition to her academic activities, Dr. Benedict served as a board member for the animal welfare club, laboratory animal medicine club, and veterinary student outreach program.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Benedict’s research interests include animal welfare, pain management, and refinements in husbandry practices.
