Profile

As Assistant Manager of Husbandry Services, Travis is responsible for aiding the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM) Animal Husbandry Management Team with the day-to-day operations of numerous animal care facilities, including assistance with animal housing, shipping, and transport services; facility and equipment maintenance; monitoring of cage/room environmental conditions; and general oversight of the standards of care for all animals housed on campus.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the University of Michigan in 2016, Mr. Stein served as a facilities supervisor with the animal care program at Georgetown University where he was responsible for the daily operations of the central vivarium. Throughout his career, Travis has worked in an ABSL-3 facility, a contract research organization, and as a vendor for in-vivo specimens.

Mr. Stein has completed Institute for Laboratory Animal Management (ILAM) training and has served on the Michigan Branch of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (MI-AALAS) Executive Council in a number of roles, including President (2020).
