In December 2022, we announced that a new Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) protocol application and submission form β commonly referred to as βV2β β was being piloted in eRAM.
After completing the successful pilot phase in which 60+ protocols were created and approved by the IACUC using the V2 format, we are excited to announce that the new V2 template will launch in eRAM for the entire U-M research community on Monday, November 20, 2023.
What Happens on November 20
- Unless you have a new or expiring protocol due for renewal in the next 90 days, no further action is required at this time. Protocols using the current (βV1β) template will be transitioned to the new V2 protocol template at the time of protocol expiration.
- You will no longer be able to create a new or renewal protocol using the existing V1 template. All V1 protocols that have already been initiated prior to this date will continue through the IACUC review and approval process, and no duplicate information will need to be entered.
- The V2 template will be used for all new and renewing protocols. PIs with an expiring protocol will be contacted by a member of the Quality Assurance (QA) Team in the Animal Care & Use Office approximately 90 days before protocol expiration to help facilitate a smooth transition to the new template.
Where to Find More Information
The new V2 IACUC Protocol Application Form webpage (or paste animalcare.umich.edu/v2-template into your web browser for quick access) includes a summary of key changes to expect from the new template, a list of Frequently Asked Questions, information about how to get started with a V2 protocol, and links to references, resources, and job aids.
How to Get Help
