A Message from the Animal Care & Use Program Leadership Team

We are pleased to announce that the University of Michigan has received Continued Full Accreditation from AAALAC International (AAALAC).
In the notification letter received earlier this week, the AAALAC Council acknowledged the incontrovertible commitment to a Culture of Care demonstrated by all members of our research community during the Site Visit in early June.
As you know, AAALAC accreditation is not only critical to the success of our Animal Care & Use Program, but also to the larger U-M research enterprise. Continued full accreditation demonstrates to our peers, funding agencies, and the general public that U-M values and upholds the highest standards of humane animal care and use.
Amid the increasingly complex funding and narrative landscape that surrounds the responsible use of animals in research, we hope that you will join us in capitalizing upon the momentum of another successful AAALAC Site Visit to pursue new avenues of excellence in support of translational science and the animals entrusted to our care.
As members of one of the world’s leading research universities, it is this diligence and compassion that must continue to guide and inform our individual and collective work.
Thank you for all that you do to move care and research discoveries forward; your partnership is invaluable to our program and the U-M’s mission of research to serve the world.
