About the Program
Established in 2019, the 10-week program consists of weekly 4-hour class sessions hosted by leadership and experts from the Animal Care & Use (ACU) Program as well as other supplementary departments including the Animal Care & Use Office, the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine, and Environment, Health & Safety.
Upon Program completion, individuals become certified U-M Laboratory Animal Research Coordinators (LARCs) who can provide guidance, training, and compliance assistance to others in their work area.
Certified LARCs are also invited to collaborate with ACU Program Leadership, the Animal Care & Use Faculty Advocacy Committee, and 40+ Program participants from previous LARCC cohorts on a variety of initiatives to enhance programmatic processes.
