Report Animal Concerns

Connect with Your ULAM Faculty Veterinarian this Fall

ULAM

As part of the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine’s (ULAM) efforts to provide a collaborative, partnership-based approach to animal care at the U-M, ULAM Faculty Veterinarians will be hosting several check-in meetings at locations across campus yellow lock icon denoting level-1 U-M login required for access this November.

In addition to discussing facility-specific needs, a variety of other topics will be covered, including:

  • Recognizing male mouse behavior and fighting
  • Appropriate volume limits for administering substances
  • Managing dehiscences in surgical models
  • Handling emergencies (e.g., fire alarms) that impact animal work
  • Information about using immunodeficient strains and the impact of Corynebacterium bovis
  • Other updates/reminders: reusing barcodes, changes to sharps disposal, and more

Time will also be set aside at the end of each meeting to address any specific questions or concerns attendees may have.

For convenience, in-person meetings have been scheduled at multiple locations spanning several days and times. Meetings will begin on Monday, November 11, and run through Thursday, November 21.

While we encourage one member from each laboratory to attend the meeting hosted by their facility’s ULAM Faculty Veterinarian, participants are welcome to attend the meeting that best fits their schedule.
