Co-sponsored by the American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners (ASLAP), our Veterinary Student Summer Fellowships Program provides veterinary students in ANY year of an AVMA-accredited veterinary school program with a unique opportunity to spend the summer learning about the cutting-edge science impacting both human and animal health.
As part of the 12-week funded fellowship, students will learn about many aspects of laboratory animal medicine, including:
- Clinical medicine and research,
- Necropsy and pathology,
- Animal surgery, and
- Animal colony management.
In order to gain further appreciation for the broad field of laboratory animal medicine, students will shadow clinical veterinary residents at the University of Michigan. Additional training opportunities may also include participation in journal clubs, seminar series, and management teams.
Applications for the 2018 Veterinary Student Summer Fellowships Program must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2018.
Interested applicants should download and complete the Veterinary Student Summer Fellowship Application in order to be considered for the program. Application materials must also include a Letter of Intent, current resume or CV, and one letter of recommendation.
Materials should be submitted to ULAM Senior Administrative Assistant Kate Lebowsky at email@example.com. Two concurrent fellows will be accepted each year. The decision date for the 2018 Program is March 12, 2018.
