Calendar icon showing January 1Central to the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM)’s mission is a commitment to service, integrity, and collaboration in support of innovative research that improves health outcomes for both humans and animals.

To that end, we want to remind you of upcoming changes to ULAM husbandry per-diem rates effective January 1, 2019. View the list of revised per-diem rates (available via PDF download) that have been reviewed and approved by the University’s Financial Analysis Office.

This year’s per-diem rate increase was limited to a fraction of what was anticipated and announced last year at this time; however, we recognize that even the smallest fluctuation in rates can have a substantial impact on your research. That is why we will continue to re-evaluate rates on an annual basis coinciding with the end of each calendar year.

Although we continually strive to prevent any increased or fluctuating rates through careful fiscal management, enhanced controls, and increased operating efficiencies, we encourage you to use standard best practices for baseline budgeting, which allow for incremental cost changes of between 2% - 5% per year throughout multi-year grant projects.
