AAALAC 2023 Site Visit
Site visitors from AAALAC International (AAALAC) will be on campus for the U-M's re-accreditation visit
beginning Tuesday, June 13 through Friday, June 16, 2023.
During this time, you should anticipate a visit to all animal housing locations on campus, as well as visits to many laboratories.
Please review the complete Site Visit Schedule (or paste animalcare.umich.edu/aaalac-schedule into your web browser) for more information on the specific days/times that individual buildings and floors will be visited.
As we work toward the collective goal of optimizing and refining our processes to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, it is incumbent upon all of us – as individuals and members of the U-M research community – to actively participate in preparations leading up to this important Site Visit.
Our Program has developed myriad tools, events, and resources to help guide and inform your preparation efforts:
- Five AAALAC Essentials – Every laboratory should finish – at a minimum – five essential actions prior to the AAALAC Site Visit. Use this checklist (available via PDF download using valid Level-1 login credentials) to get started.
- Designate Your AAALAC Spokesperson – Use this form, now available in eRAM, to identify a spokesperson(s) in your laboratory that will be available to meet with the AAALAC Site Visit Team.
- Review all preparation resources leading up to the Site Visit. Archived resources and recordings (where applicable) from preparation events are available via the AAALAC 2023 Site Visit Archived Resources Folder.
- Build Your AAALAC Blueprint – Customize your preparation path by selecting specific topics of interest based on your laboratory’s research and receive a curated list of recommended resources to focus your preparation efforts.
