Reminder: Many AAALAC Preparation Events Happening Next Week

As research re-engagement efforts across campus continue moving forward and with the month of July soon coming to a close, we would like to remind you that the University of Michigan’s re-accreditation site visit from AAALAC International (AAALAC ) is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25 – Friday, August 28.

There are myriad ways to stay engaged with our Program and our Animal Care & Use Team in the weeks leading up to the Site Visit:

The first AAALAC Final Preparation Town Hall will take place this Monday, July 27, from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Hosted by members of the Animal Care & Use Program Leadership Team, the Town Hall will be focused on final Site Visit preparations, including how to approach Site Visitor questions, what to expect during the Site Visit, and a short Q & A session.
 
The second Town Hall will be held on Wednesday, August 19, from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM. The information shared at each session will be similar; therefore, attendance at both sessions is not required.

One member of each laboratory is strongly encouraged to sign up for a Final Preparation Town Hall session to learn more about the Site Visit timeline and expectations for Site Visit participation.
 

Three New Virtual AAALAC Chats Announced

We have also added three new topics to our Virtual AAALAC Chat Series. Virtual AAALAC Chats are short, 30-minute sessions that provide a quick overview and resources on specific topics of interest and importance to the U-M research community.

Next week's chats will cover a variety of topics:

  Wednesday, July 29 • 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM
   
• Laboratory Safety & Animal Research
  Thursday, July 30 • 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM

All Virtual AAALAC Chats and Final Preparation Town Halls will be hosted via the Zoom webinar platform. Upon submitting your RSVP, you will receive a confirmation email with login instructions for the meeting(s) you have registered to attend. Valid Level-1 U-M login credentials will be required for each meeting.

If you have been unable to attend any of the previous Virtual AAALAC Chats, all sessions have been recorded and archived for future reference.
